Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document all the things that help keep my sanity as a stay at home mom to a “difficult” baby.

Baby Bjorn Bouncer

Baby Bjorn Bouncer

Ok, this may be the single greatest “colic” purchase we made. For a baby with colic, too much stimulus can be detrimental. The Baby Bjorn Bouncer allows Harris to bounce and be comfortable without stimulating him to a meltdown point. This bouncer saved our sanity during a time we were about to lose our minds.

The Basics:
The Baby Bjorn Bouncer is an ergonomically designed bouncer. I didn’t know what that meant, so I looked it up. It means it is designed for efficiency and comfort. It is basically simple and effective. It operates without batteries or electricity and only bounces when the baby moves (or a parent bounces it for the baby).

It has three settings for the seat, so ages 0-3 can comfortably sit. There is a belt that straps in the baby for safety. The bouncer fabric comes in two styles: Bliss and Balance Soft. Bliss has fourteen different color choices, and Balance Soft provides eight different color combinations. Bliss costs about $249 and Balance Soft is $199. The fabric can be removed and washed in a washer and dryer.

My Personal Review:

We bought the Bjorn Bouncer because of a recommendation made by a mom in the waiting room of our doctor’s office. We were on week six (week three of colic), and she was at week ten. Her baby had colic and she vowed this was a game changer. We were done buying baby gear that would “help” with colic, and we brushed it off. That Sunday, in a state of exhaustion, we decided to pay the money and give it a try. We bought the Bliss style in Midnight Blue because that is what Buy Buy Baby had in stock. :-)

It does everything it says it does. It bounces easily, the setting are great, so if your baby likes laying flatter, he can. If he likes sitting up more, he can do that too. It’s very lightweight, so it can be carried easily from room to room while you are trying to hold your baby, a bottle, a coffee, and your sanity. Harris fit perfectly from six weeks to current (four months) with plenty of room to go. The design is sleek, so it doesn't feel “baby toy,” and looks nice in any room (read: you don’t need to hide it when company comes over).

Harris did not initially bounce himself, so we did it for him. He was instantly soothed by the bouncing, and the bouncer became the only we could put Harris down while we did something like use the bathroom, grab a cup of coffee, feed the dogs, etc. Because there aren’t excessive fabrics and because it doesn’t bounce unless he does, it feels really safe. He literally does NOT cry in this bouncer. It’s amazing. It also makes him poop, I kid you not, and he now almost exclusively poops in his bouncer. It’s also the best place for us to feed him because he’s comfortable and it keeps him upright to help with his reflux. This product is effective, easy, and safe.

If i could recommend one product to a new parent, or to the parent of a colicky baby, this. would. be. it.
