Baby Bullet
We started Harris on solid foods a bit early. He was only three and a half months, but the doctor said he was ready. He was reaching for our food, sitting up on his own in the high chair with minimal support, and he did not spit out the first bite of apple puree that we gave. Originally, we bought him jars of starter baby food: apple, banana, avocado. He loved it, and we eventually graduated to the pouches. We love the pouches! They are super convenient and come in really awesome, nutritious fruits, vegetables, and grains combinations. The drawback? They’re pricey. They were costing us $1.29-$1.79 per pouch, and Harris at four months was eating three a day!
So, it was time for me to bring out my Baby Bullet that I registered for and received at the baby shower. I figured it couldn’t be too hard to make our own baby food. And the truth it, it’s not. The Baby Bullet is a simple blender that comes with two different blades: one for purees and one for milling grains like brown rice and oats. It also comes with adorable containers with smiley faces on them for refrigeration and silicon cups for freezing.
I have loved making Harris’s food in the Baby Bullet. It’s super easy to use and even has a spatula to help get it all out. There are a couple draw backs:
It does not come with a steamer. I noticed the Baby Brezza food maker does come with a steamer. In retrospect, I may have opted for that one for my registry. I just boil or steam the fruits and vegetables on the stove, so it isn’t worth it to me to go buy the Brezza one, but if you are registering, take a look at it and decide what is best for your house.
It does not come with pouches. The Brezza comes with reusable food pouchers, which are just super convenient on the go and make for less mess than a spoon. You can buy the pouches on Amazon for $10, which we did. So it isn’t a big deal that the Bullet doesn’t come with them, but just something to think about.
All in all, I use the Bullet two or three times a week to make almost all of Harris’s baby food. I buy some premade pouches for when convenience is important, but mostly, I make all his food now. The Baby Bullet does what I need it to do, and while I would like for it to also steam and to have the pouches, it definitely isn’t difficult to do that on the stove and to buy the pouches on Amazon.
